It has been said in the petition that in order to make Whatsapp as accountable, it should be instructed to follow Indian laws and appoint a complaining officer. The complaint officer will look into the grievances of consumers and also coordinate with the investigating agencies.

It has been said in the petition that it is necessary to have an office of Whatsapp for running payment services in India. The lawyer said that Whatsapp is being allowed to continue its payment system and other services without any control.

According to the petition, WhatsApp has 200 million users in India and about one million people are testing Whatsapp appetite payment service in India. The Facebook-owned company has more than 1.5 billion users worldwide. There is a lot of Indian users in this.

It says that every user has a number on Whatsapp, but the messaging platform Whatsapp does not have any such number so that users can contact the company for redressal of grievances.
